Knowing you English level is important because it helps students in many ways. Suppose you want to start studying. How do you know where to begin if you do not know your current level? In addition, it helps students to keep track of their progress. Imagine you are studying on your own and you want to know if you are learning correctly. Great! I also found this one: http://www.englishleveltest.com which also considers the experience. Anyway but these are all just "mini" tests, nothing like taking toefel or first. :S
